About This Piece
The Matera Terracotta Planter is crafted using techniques unchanged since the ancient cave dwellings of Matera were first inhabited. Each planter is hand-formed from local Pugliese clay, creating organic, slightly irregular forms that celebrate the beauty of imperfection. The textured surface is achieved by pressing natural materials — burlap, leaves, rope — into the wet clay before firing, creating a tactile surface that adds depth and character. The included drainage saucer is glazed on the interior to protect surfaces from moisture. This planter brings the earthy warmth of Southern Italy to indoor and outdoor spaces alike.
Care Instructions
Allow soil to dry between watering. Protect from frost. Clean exterior with stiff brush. Empty saucer after watering.
